Join us as we visit with Dr. Sonja Swiger, Extension Livestock Entomologist with Texas A&M University about the New World screwworm.
Sonja Swiger is a Professor/Extension Entomologist with Texas A&M AgriLife Extension. She received her PhD and Master of Science degrees from the University of Florida in 2007 and 2003, respectively, and her Bachelor of Science degree from Bethany College, WV in 2001. Dr. Swiger is responsible for adult educational outreach and research projects state-wide related to livestock/veterinary entomology and serves as the Extension contact for mosquito issues. She has given over 998 program presentations on insect pests of cattle and public health concern and insect management, 94 professional presentations, published 31 Extension publications, and 12 peer reviewed journal articles. Additionally, Dr. Swiger has been interviewed over 370 times for newspaper and magazine articles and conducted 36 TV/radio interviews.
